Examination of the chassis, outriggers and mounting structure that provide the stable base for lifting and elevation.
The chassis is the foundation that keeps a machine stable, and chassis inspection assesses the frame, outriggers, stabiliser mounts and turntable interfaces on which everything above depends. Corrosion, cracking at welded connections and worn outrigger components can quietly undermine stability, so the chassis warrants the same searching attention as the boom. We inspect chassis structure for the defects that compromise a machine's ability to stay planted under load.
What chassis inspection covers
We examine the main frame for corrosion and cracking, particularly around welded joints and stress concentrations, and assess outriggers and stabilisers for wear, damage and correct deployment. Mounting interfaces for the turntable or superstructure are checked for security and integrity.
On truck-mounted machines, the interface between the EWP or crane and the vehicle chassis receives particular attention, as this connection carries the whole working load into the base vehicle.

Where it fits
Chassis inspection is part of annual and major inspections and is commissioned separately after impact, corrosion concerns or stability problems. Findings often direct targeted NDT of critical welds.

Findings are located, photographed and reported with severity and remedial actions, so the machine's stability foundation is documented alongside its upper structure.
