Boom Inspection
Focused examination of boom sections, welds, wear pads and pivots that carry the highest stresses on a machine.
The boom is the most highly-stressed structure on an EWP or crane, and boom inspection concentrates engineering attention where failure would be most consequential. We examine boom sections, weldments, wear pads, pivots and extension mechanisms for cracking, wear, corrosion and deformation. Because the boom experiences the greatest bending and fatigue loading, it is the first place a searching inspection looks.
What boom inspection covers
Our inspectors assess each boom section for straightness, dents and corrosion, examine welds at high-stress locations for cracking, and measure wear pads and pivot pins against tolerance. Telescopic mechanisms are checked for smooth, even extension and for wear that causes misalignment.
Where visual assessment raises concern, targeted NDT confirms whether an indication is a significant crack, and wall-thickness measurement quantifies any corrosion.

Where it fits

Reporting
Findings are located on the boom, photographed and reported with severity and any remedial action required before return to service.
