Crane inspection is the periodic competent-person examination that keeps a lifting appliance safe and compliant under the AS 2550 series. Whether the crane is mobile, vehicle-loading, overhead or tower, the principle is the same: structure, mechanisms, ropes, hooks and safety systems must be examined and verified on a defined cycle. We inspect cranes independently so owners have defensible evidence that their lifting equipment is fit for continued service.
What crane inspection covers
Our engineers examine the crane's structure for cracking, corrosion and deformation, assess ropes, hooks, sheaves and mechanisms for wear and damage, and verify that overload protection, limit switches and safety systems function correctly. The inspection is matched to the crane type and its governing standard within the AS 2550 series.
Documentation is reconciled too: the compliance plate, rated capacity chart, and logbook must be consistent and complete for the crane to be considered compliant.

Matching the standard to the crane
The AS 2550 series covers the safe use of cranes by type, and vehicle-loading cranes are additionally governed by AS 1418.11. We inspect against the parts relevant to the specific crane so the assessment reflects the correct requirements.
Reporting
You receive a signed inspection report stating condition, defects, severity and a clear pass or the remedial actions required, with the next inspection due date documented.
