Engineering inspection of personnel lifts, the compact single-person mast and push-around EWPs used for light-duty elevated access.
Personnel lift is a general term for compact, light-duty elevating work platforms designed to lift a single worker, typically on a telescoping mast, for maintenance, stock and fit-out tasks. Whether push-around or self-propelled, these machines are inspected under AS 1418.10 and AS 2550.10 with attention to the mast, platform edge protection, base stability and, on electric units, electrical safety.
Mast and lifting media
The telescoping mast and the chains or cables that raise it are the structural core of a personnel lift. We inspect the mast sections and slides for wear, check the chains or cables for condition and tension, and confirm the section-sequencing and anti-fall devices operate correctly and that the platform lowers under control.
Stability and electrical safety
With a small footprint, personnel lifts depend on tilt sensing and, where fitted, stabiliser outriggers to prevent tipping. We verify these and inspect the wheels, castors and brakes. As most units are battery-electric and used indoors, electrical testing to AS/NZS 3760 of the charger and any platform outlets accompanies the mechanical inspection.
Intervals and certification
Annual competent-person inspection applies under AS 2550.10, with routine checks per the manufacturer's manual. Our report records mast and stability findings, function-test results and the certification outcome.
